This new Special Program from the Government of Canada is designed to encourage recent Hong Kong graduates and workers with essential work experience to choose Canada to study, work, and settle. It includes enhancements and support for people from Hong Kong who are currently in Canada and want to stay, or for people from Hong Kong who want to start plans to come to Canada once COVID-19 travel restrictions are lifted. A new pathway to Permanent Residence for in-Canada Hong Kong residents is now available as well, meeting specific eligibility criteria.
It also benefits immediate family members of Hong Kong residents who will be working or studying in Canada.

Students

Become a Member

Hong Kong program-Students:

For recent Hong Kong graduates and those with essential work experience to choose Canada as a place to study and settle (eligible as a principal applicant or an accompanying dependant).
Expedited study permit applications for those who want to study in Canada.
Increasing applications for study permits from Hong Kong residents in 2020; Canada will continue to promote this opportunity.
Program also supports people from Hong Kong who want to begin making plans to travel to Canada when COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
Family members in Hong Kong of Canadians and Canadian Permanent Residents may also travel to Canada under current exemptions to travel restrictions (all travelers to Canada must quarantine for 14 days upon arrival).

Workers

Hong Kong program-Workers:

For recent Hong Kong graduates and those with essential work experience to choose Canada as a place to work and settle (eligible as a principal applicant or an accompanying dependant).
Recent Hong Kong graduate Students and youth can get an open work permit and broaden their pathways to permanent residency.
Eligible Hong Kong nationals and residents with recently completed post-secondary studies can now apply for an open work permit valid for up to 3 years.
New pathway to permanent resident status for in-Canada Hong Kong residents who meet specific eligibility criteria (including minimum language and education levels and 1 year of work experience in Canada).
Family members in Hong Kong of Canadians and Canadian Permanent Residents may also travel to Canada under current exemptions to travel restrictions (all travelers to Canada must quarantine for 14 days upon arrival).

Reunification

Hong Kong program-Family Reunification:

If you have an immediate family member (son, daughter, father, mother or brother / sister) that can come to Canada as a Student o as a Worker under the Hong Kong Special Program, ask him or her to apply with us and you can benefit, too!
